About Me

Hi! I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Bethany, a wife, mom, doula, teacher, writer, friend…You get the idea. I am a never-bored person. I always have something to do, whether that is working on one of my never-ending projects, helping my kids with something, cooking for our family, or just some serious relaxing with a movie or a book.

My journey into the world of birth started several years before I even thought of having a baby. I was visiting my cousin who was pregnant and planning a homebirth. She had a stack of books borrowed from her midwife. I was sleeping on the couch (well, trying to), and I stayed up a good part of that night reading all about natural birth in these books. It was a topic I had never thought of up to that point, but I was sold! I went home and told my husband we were going to plan to have our baby at home, whenever that day might come.

And we did! We had that first baby at home, and then the next, and the next, and the next, and finally the last. All crazy, taxing, beautiful births attended by my wonderful midwife at our home. I have helped other women have babies for the last 11 years, both at home and in various hospitals. And I have read and researched all things relating to birth all the while.

I’ve been wanting a good writing project for some time now, and so I started this blog as a way to combine my desire to write, my love for birth, and my training in education to really help other moms on the path to a fulfilling, empowering birth and a beautiful life. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are enriched in some way by your visit.
